Sticklepath Horseshoe Fell Race

2018 Race Report

The 2018 Sticklepath Horseshoe Fell Race was a huge success, with 41 runners starting and all 41 runners finishing within 2hrs 40mins! The conditions were perfect for Fell Running, even if it was a bit windy, with many runners getting a refreshing breeze and a boost up to the top of Cosdon. The race was won by Robert Waddy in a time of 1:16:31, which was very impressive, especially considering the windy conditions and the fact that it was his first time running the race. Robert was followed home closely by four-time champion Tim Lenton and newcomer Michal Lesniak . The first woman home was Robin Carter in a time of 1:46:21. Full Results from this year's race have been published in the 'Results' section of the website, or alternatively you can email us to get your own copy of the results. Some Photos from the event will also be published on Facebook and our website over the coming weeks.

Thank you very much to all the marshals for giving up their time to volunteer for the race. The race could not go ahead without them and their commitment to caring, supporting and joking with the runners is much appreciated. Thank you to Mrs Dorothy Clark for the use of her field for the start and finish of the event, as this provides us with a safe, well-positioned place to start the race. Thank you to North Dartmoor Rescue Group for providing personnel to help marshal on Steeperton and Little Hound Tor, two of the most exposed checkpoints (especially this year), and for the time, equipment and experience they provided. Thank you to the sweepers, Gavin and Richard, for guiding the runners and providing advice and tips to make sure everyone got around the course safely. Thank you to the organising committee of Gavin, David and Wendy for giving up their time to organise the event; they are the ones who make it happen!

Most of all, thank you to all the runners who took part. The event really could not take place without all the wonderful runners who turn up to take part and make the day enjoyable for the marshals and organizers. We hope to see you all next year!

Just a quick reminder that all profits from today's events and donated to local charities, as we are a small event that aims to benefit the local community.

Information will be published in the coming months about the 2019 Sticklepath Horseshoe Fell Race, and we hope to see everybody again in August 2019!
